Last Saturday there was a MASSIVE nuptial flight at the beach in Southern NY around 5-6 pm. I suspect they are Lasius neoniger due to the proximity to Labor Day, but I can't be sure. The queens are about 1 cm long.

Do you think that they'll fly again soon?

I have no idea. But this flight was HUGE. There were a lot of flying queens. I didn't notice many males though.

Yeah Lasius for sure, but no way to tell the species with those pics and no habitat of collection.

Collection was at a beach near some dunes. Hopefully these are better pics. Also, her gaster has a very odd reflective/luster quality.

There was a flight today pretty sure it was lasuis. In Queens NY. Hopefully not parasitic. I lost my micro lens attachment for my phone so pictures are hopeless. I also caught what I believe is Brachymyrmex. Flying side by side. Though I have caught them near my house before and when I went to look back at pictures they were much darker. The one I caught today are more orange.

Prenolepis Imparis

Tetramorium Sp. E

Crematogaster
Brachymyrmex Sp.

Lasius Claviger
