.....success....the ants were so darn difficult though...also, I don’t know if they are Tetramorium Immigrans anymore....why? Well, first of all, their grip is %1000, it took me 20 TAP TAP TAPS to get them into the new tube, and even at a near vertical level they were still climbing! I eventually just had to smash the mouth on my plastic box. Three are still in the old tube and 1 or 2 were killed in this drama, and I’m now worried I’ve scarred my ants for life. Also, my Outworld has a leak and every time I touch it it leaks sand. So, not my best day.

You definitely didn’t scar them for life. Honestly, once their alarm pheremones dissipate, they wouldn’t even remember anything. I don’t think ants even have memories in the way we think of it.

This should be the Daily Ant.
So, the moving part? Half the terror of The Moldy Cheese Incident.
The Moldy Cheese was at the back of the tube with the ants, so I had to get my tweezers, unplug the tube, and grab it. Problem was, (I was working over a plastic container thank goodness) that it brought almost all the ants with it. I had to get cotton balls, and tweezers to maneuver them into the portal again after plugging the tube back to the portal, and after two deaths, they were back in. Queen wasn’t injured luckily, but I see what you guys mean by, “that’s an Antkeeper day”.

I got mealworms!!! Dehydrated mealworms...is that okay? Here was the problem, I don't like killing so I wanted to see if they would take dehydrated mealworms first. Do you think they will take them or not? Thanks!

Rehydrate them, with water. There will be a higher acceptance rate, I think.

Hi there! I went on a 6 month or so hiatus, in part due, and in part cause of the death of my colonies.

However, I went back to the Sierras, and restarted my collection, which is now as follows:

Aphaenogaster uinta, Camponotus vicinus, Camponotus modoc, Formica cf. aserva, Formica cf. micropthalma, Formica cf. manni, Formica subpolita, Formica cf. subaenescens, Lasius americanus, Manica invidia, Pogonomyrmex salinus, Pogonomyrmex sp. 1, Solenopsis validiuscula, & Solenopsis sp. 3 (new Sierra variant).
