Location: Trabuco Canyon, Orange County, California.
Habitat: Oak forest.
Coloration, hue and pattern: All black.
Length: 3.5 mm.

I have seen four of these now, and I'm quite sure it's Prenolepis imparis, plus it's January, and nothing else would really be releasing alates now but them. I think this means their mating flight should be happening any day now around Southern California.

Found another one today, and got some pictures of it while it is alive.

It's Prenolepis imparis, the Winter Ant, they fly really early in the year.
