Will the THA liquid feeder work with just honey or do you have to add water?

Will this work for bigger ants (Camponotus)?

Unless you have a large colony, feeding undiluted honey is not recommended, as it will dehydrate ants when used long term.

Likewise, diluting honey is also not recommended, because organisms in the honey will start to grow and ferment or deteriorate the quality of the liquid just as soon as it is diluted.

I tend to use sugar water or hummingbird nectar, or water in my waterers.

I occasionally offer fruit juices or honey water, but I only offer what they can consume in an hour or so and remove the rest.  I usually put a small drop on a tin foil "plate" for easy cleanup.

I like to give mine enough to last a few months, so I don't have to do anything. B)

Yeah that was my idea for them to have a steady supply of honey. I also give them asorted fruits/sweets evey two days with their mealworms.

I don't see how honey would dehydrate them as they have a constant suppy of water? I've been giving it to them now for a while and it don't seem to harm them, they eat it right up. And yes the feeder does work with just honey I see small drips coming out of the mesh.
