Even some scientists are releasing insects they can't care for anymore:

Yes, we have had to discontinue two major experiments and were forced to release the wasps back into nature.

So it seems it is not even considered as that bad among all scientists.

Both of you are representing your arguments in the absolute most watered down form possible. This isn't a place to discuss politics, if it were then you'd actually take the time formulating factual, educated arguments instead of enraging each other with hot air. Just quit and stop creating drama.

You're right. I'm not the one who started this, but I admit I shouldn't have fought fire with fire either. Let's all just quit bumping up this topic and let it slip back down into the depths where it belongs...........

If you agree with me, like this post, and don't respond. If you don't, please don't respond.

Well I'm just gonna let this thread die, so this will be my last post. But that is funny. They must be "fake" scientists then.

Though I have a no rule. Every time someone posts on the forum (not chat) their propaganda of releasing native ants (and it isn't done as a joke). Since its not illegal here so its completely fine to do as long as no crime is commited (like solenopsis invicta is illegal and not native anyway), gonna keep a native ant colony for 1-2 weeks and release them. I'll fight them through action instead of words. Because action is far more effective than sitting behind a computer and just talking words and not doing anything about it. Until it becomes illegal, which I doubt it will, but if you care then I guess can go to the government to make it so and have it voted on, that will be a vastly better strategy than getting into a flame war against the anti-native crowd. I won't even say anything to them until the deed of keeping a native ant for 1-2 weeks is done and released.

And that ends my final post in this thread

Changing the subject, I do think that Antscanada is pretty is bad for the community. My friend who has watched some of his vids, and you know what's the first thing he told me? "I want to get RIFA and/or Bullet ants". Lolwhut. I didn't think of this at the time, but I should've responded with "The species that's killing all of the natives and the colony AC let die for attention".

Another thing that occured to me: I wonder how his "friend" who gave him the 6 queen Asain marauder colony feels. AC couldn't even raise one, and he got one as a gift and just abandoned it. All of his friends hard work down the drain. Or worse, he has a network of wild mature colony snatchers that got the Leafcutters and the yellow crazy ants.

I really don't want to prolong this thread, but I can't read this and look the other way.  Instead of just spouting out insults, how about you back your claims with some facts.

I go to school in BC, Canada, and my PROVINCIALLY-MANDATED curriculum has an abundance of Leftist or American Democratic ideas that I am REQUIRED to learn about.  In my socials class, I am FORCED to learn about the LBGT movement, "discrimination" against women"/the Me Too movement, "discrimination" against minorities, etc.  There's a lot more than that, but I think you get the idea.  If you are going to proclaim that only Right- wingers or Canadian Conservatives like to push their views onto people, you desperately need to do some reading.  Right wing values are all about freedom of opinion, religion, etc; that is why things such as the 1st Amendment in the U.S. exist.

The Constitution of the United States clearly states that WE HAVE THE RIGHT TO GATHER TOGETHER. NO ONE CAN TAKE THAT RIGHT AWAY!!! And that's what Democrats do.

"Oh my god, they're taking away our freedom to gather and kill each other with a deadly plague, they really don't care about freedom". I hope you'll enjoy your freedom when you're lying 6 feet under the ground because that's what is going to happen to a lot of people taking part in those stupid protests.

It's no wonder the US death toll is already exceeding Spain and Italy combined when people are that selfish and stupid. It's literally like someone saying "you really shouldn't touch that fence, it has 100.000 volts running through it" and you're like "screw you, nobody tells me what to do" while grabbing the fence and killing yourself plus two dozen innocent people around you when your body explodes in a shower of blood and bone shards.

The virus doesn't care about your opinion, it doesn't care about the constitution, it doesn't care about your political ideology. If it infects you it has a decent chance to kill you - or any of your friends, loved ones, family members, grandparents and children. Young people think they're safe because they're young but they're not, even children have died and it is now becoming increasingly clear that many people who survived took PERMANENT damage to their lunges, dramatically increasing their chances to contract and die from future respiratory infections - and if none of those manages to finish you off you there's a decent chance the utterly broken US healthcare system will.

Wait, are y'all talking about the April fools thing, or did he actually let ants go?

No April fools. He let his Odontomachus, Carebara, and Oecothylla go.

were they native ants in the area he released them, or were they exotic to that area?

Right wing values are all about freedom of opinion, religion, etc; that is why things such as the 1st Amendment in the U.S. exist.

Unfortunately those values are often used to promote an anti-social society in which everyone is left to fend for themselves unless they had the luck to inherite a fortune from their parents.
Also, you do know that the political spectrum is a circle, right? Go far enough left or right and the only thing that differ are the labels and the sworn enemy. On a grand sheme there is literally no substantial difference between the extreme left and the extreme right ideology and both have lead to some of the most atrocious regimes in human history (prime examples being Hitler and Mussolini, Stalin and Mao).

They were native to his area - at least this time he didn't release an invasive pest ants (spoiler, he already did that when he dumped his mite-infested Pharao ants at a local garbage dump).
And it's not really about him releasing (native) colonies, it's about him showing to his mostly young impressionable audience that releasing ants is fine. They may be much more careless when it comes to the species they unleash onto their local environment.

As far as politics goes, from my experience the differnece between a right leaning moderate, and a left leaning moderate, is when there is a problem, the right leaning moderate looks for solutions, looks for ways they can solve the problem, or things they can do to sovle the problem, while the left leaning moderate looks for people to blame for the problem, usually by pointing at someone as an "other" and casting the blame onto them.  the left leaning moderate will look for solutions from outward (other people, other agencies, etc and blame others when the problem doesnt' get solved, whilel the right leaning moderate will look inward for solutions, and when blame is to be laid, will ask themselves how they could have done better to solve the problem.  The right leaning moderate values heirarchies based on competency and merit, and the left values heirarchies based on unearned power gained through coercion and popular culture rather than through actual competance.

As for the ants, I agree it's bad to release captive colonies and I wish people wouldn't do it.

Dude, the virus is so out of hand because of the CCP which many democratic politicians seem to support. (I'm chinese btw so this isn't just me being racist) Not only did they hide it, they are HINDERING our chances of getting better by distributing non functional medical supplies (that were paid for), shifting blame onto other nations, such as US or Italy. I admit, US was at fault too busy donating to China to care for itself. You might even agree with me. I'm just saying that the left isn't totally free of cause and blame.

There's not really a difference between both sides, the political right in particular has a looong history of blaming others for their own failures, particularly the immigrants (remember Trump calling all Mexicans rapists and drug dealers or calling the Coronovirus a democrat hoax while it literally killed thousands of people per day due to his administration failing to respond?) while the political left usually blames society and capitalism. And let's be true the US is NOT an actual democracy, it's an oligarchy with a government putting special interest above society - this is true for Republican establishment and the Republican populists just as much as it is for the Democrat establishment. Florida's deputy governor literally said in a TV interview "there are more important things than living" which translated into common language basically boils down "Screw those lower class peasants, they can all die in a ditch as long as I and my rich upper class friends stop loosing money".

And make no mistake, their are biggots and racists on both sides, the left that has taken over the Hollywood entertainment industry (and destroyed the entire comic book industry) is a prime example of this with Kathleen Kennedy hiring Harvey Weinstein's personal assistant (because that's totally not a PR distaster that's gonna blow up in Disney's face) to do female-centric ideology-driven Star Wars show (because that's totally not going to loose Disney another few billion dollars) with said lead writer blatantly saying to one of their peers in a tv interview "I hired you because you're black". Yeah, if that's not biggotery and racism, what is. Trump's Republicans filling the US court system with woefully unqualified judges who are selected purely based on their (far right) ideology is the other extreme, thanks to them the US judiciary system is literally falling apart with processes blowing up due to massive legal errants made by inexperienced judges who have never been in a proper court before and have zero respect for due process, the law or the constitution.

As for the ants, I agree it's bad to release captive colonies and I wish people wouldn't do it.

He's generally a terrible role model for young antkeepers, promoting a fake image of antkeeping (AC is basically antkeeping fairytales with uncle Mikey) and encouraging bad behaviour. And his reaction to criticism is garbage, he is either incapable of seeing the point or doesn't want to see it.

Trump did not call the virus a hoax. He called what the democrats were saying about his administration's actions towards it a hoax. As in the Ukraine Phone Call hoax. He did not say it didn't exist, but that his wrongs did not exist. In his usual "FAKE NEWS!" fashion. Don't believe everything you hear on CNN. Or any news network for that matter.

Hi there! I went on a 6 month or so hiatus, in part due, and in part cause of the death of my colonies.

However, I went back to the Sierras, and restarted my collection, which is now as follows:

Aphaenogaster uinta, Camponotus vicinus, Camponotus modoc, Formica cf. aserva, Formica cf. micropthalma, Formica cf. manni, Formica subpolita, Formica cf. subaenescens, Lasius americanus, Manica invidia, Pogonomyrmex salinus, Pogonomyrmex sp. 1, Solenopsis validiuscula, & Solenopsis sp. 3 (new Sierra variant).
