Hi All,

Just introducing myself. I'm new to ant keeping, started a few months ago and been digesting loads of info on the types/species that are present in my area. I live in the Caribbean on the Island of the Common Wealth of Dominica, found between Guadeloupe and Martinique. Not to be confused with the Dominican Republic :-).

I've caught about 9 ant queens so far, and will be posting pics to ensure that I have them ID properly.

Some ant species I frequently see in and around my house are:

Ghost ant - Tapinoma melanocephalum

Black crazy ants

Crematogaster ashmeadi

pheidole

camponotus - Black carpenter ant. They are always busy during the night. And they hate when I shine lights on them.

I believe there are a few more but I haven't ID them.

Most of my ant queens have eggs and hopefully should get their first nanitics in the next 2- 3 weeks or so.
