Two more queens the last 2 days. Both C. Novae.
So all I've got to this year are C. Novae.

Would anyone of you terrific Canadian Anters like to mail me a tetramorium queen or two in test tubes. I'll pay. I'm in  Nova Scotia. Hard to find here (but they are here in Halifax I believe).

Pretty please. heck I'll take a crematogastor or aphenogastor queen too.

Sincerely,

Canadant

I wish I had those myself. All I seem to get is one Camponotus Noveaboracensis after another, although last year was more Formica.

But no matter where you are there ARE ants around. You just have to be persistent and do a lot a walking, looking. And while you can be lucky and find then at just about any time, your odds are better after rainfalls, and in the evenings or later at night (or early morning).

The first year I tried I could not find anything myself despite trying very hard (my son was the one who found then all that year). But as time has gone by I find that I now know how to scan a landscape better.

Patience!

With the heavy rains the night before I'm not surprised but was out all day doing "Canada Day" things I knew I would not have a chance to do any searching. With a bit of luck I may still find one tomorrow.

went looking today didn't find anything barely any workers :(

i was hoping to at least catch something

I'm looking around a park (creek near it) and around my neighborhood I don't really know where else to look

edit now that its dark i decided to flip over some rocks in my backyard.

i found a tetramorium immigrans queen on my first rock flip :) but she went under some clay, i couldn't find her after looking for 5 minutes so i gave up
