I found a pretty big colony of them, and they had tons of males and alates under a rock. Plus tons of alate brood. Along with a bunch of wingless females, that I assume are queens. I got some males/females and a few queens along with workers. I left all the other ones under the rock, as I don't want to ruin their colony.

Might be worth keeping an eye on their nests, if you have any near you. They are pretty cool ants, fast and kind of medium size. Look a bit Fire ant like (red/black), but all the same size. They tend to move a lot faster too.

Just thought I'd give everyone a heads up, for whoever has been wanting them. :)

This is in Orange County for those curious. Kind of coastal

Well, funny you say this because I actually shot a video today of alates poking their heads out of the nests, so that will be uploaded soon.

Funny coincidence. :P Guess that definitely means their flights should be coming up soon.

I saw a female alate before I started filming, and you can see 3-4 males peeking their heads out of the hole towards the end of the video.

The title says Palm Springs, but in reality it was in Palm Desert.

That's why I said "exactly". I know the whole Coachella Valley area.
