We've seen flights here in Southern California, but it's normal for flights to start as early as January here.

By the end of this week, winter should finally retreat the north east coast...Hopefully

Prenolepis imparis are about to fly for me, I just hope they all don't die at the same time like last year!

But I did see my first worker ant yesterday against the south side of the house.

Even if they aren't flying, I can find queens pretty easily up here in early spring.

Almost every rock I turn over will have a founding queen or colony beneath it with queen right in the middle.
