I put two dealates I found tandem running in a test tube with rotten wood last weekend. It’s a big tube, though and they’re totally hidden. I’ll just wait and see what happens. There will probably be more flights soon.

Might not see them for a while. Unlike collected colony fragments of Reticulitermes, I've found that once they've laid eggs, my Reticulitermes pairs usually do alright. You can likely just forget about that tube for a year and they'd be okay. Assuming it doesn't get too dry that is.

Dang, bro. Caught two termite alates during a picnic. I set the vial on top of my hot car for only one minute to load the kids, and they got baked.

Yeah, they die easily from heat, by the way, I caught 11 today and fed them all to my ants.

Not surprised. They die pretty easily.

Go to the ant, you sluggard; consider its ways and be wise! It has no commander, no overseer or ruler, yet it stores its provisions in summer and gathers its food at harvest. -Proverbs 6: 6-8
