What kind of permit would you need to get these ants shipped across state lines?

APHIS PPQ 526 permit you also need to be 18 or above in order to fill one out(or have have your legal guardian fill one out for you) depending on the state and time of year it can take up to 2 1/2 months in my experience I do know someone in NY who has been waiting for the USDA to accept or decline for around 6 month and they filled out a permit for a species of honeypot much like these so good luck.

Hey. I looked into the permit and its a permit to move ants. Why would I need to get a permit to move ants when someone else is shipping them to me? Thanks!

Because it's the person on the receiving end who will be keeping the non native species and a fact that most individuals do not know is both parties are required to have a PPQ 526 to move them.

what if they are native? do both parties need permits then?

The USDA does not treat anything different if it is native.
