6-8-2018:         So about a week ago I caught 2 Pogonomyrmex queens. This one is going to be about the first queen that I caught.

So far the queen has layed 3 eggs. Over the days I think it was eating the eggs over the eggs because I only see 1. It might not be eating them because they might be on the . I keep them in AntsCanada testubes in a AntsCanada testube rack with a little hand towel over it for darkness. It seems to be doing good and I will give you guys updates later.

Are you feeding the queen seeds and not stressing her out? you need to also give her some foraging space as they are semi-claustral.

I would highly recommend putting the test tube in a foraging container (or attaching it to one), and then give her an abundance of poppy seeds and crushed sunflower seeds, along with feeding a small amount of insects once a week (~10 fruit flies, small cricket, mealworm segment). Keep the test tube covered with a sleeve of some sort (paper, foil, anything to block out the light), and keep her warm (85-90 degrees Fahrenheit). And for good measure, don't take off the sleeve for at least 2 weeks, preferably a month. These queens can get stressed quite easily, so this prevents it from happening. You may also want to consider a more natural setup for these queens, as this species does very well in dirt. I would look into one of dspdrew's dirt boxes if I were you.

Just recently I check on this colony and it looks like it ate all the eggs😭. I don’t know what caused this because I have been giving them privacy.

Give them more privacy. You posted the journal 3 days ago and looked today. Make sure they're in the dark and away from vibrations including noises.
