I think Dew is just playing with ideas. After all, it is his hobby to tinker around.

 

Besides, considering how many colonies he has, I guess he wants a formicarium that could last months without having to worry about moisture.

Where is that much water going, in the first place?

As we were just discussing, if you have good ventilation, all that water is going into the air. Of course it it's a large tank, it's going to take quite some time. I make my tanks plenty large because I don't want to have to even think about watering the nest for months. I have way too many colonies and way too much stuff going on.

 

Not that Dean didn't basically say this already. :P

I use Drews designs and 16oz of water lasts for months. It's nice to not have to mess with water everyday, weekly, monthly, etc,. If you have just one colony, I suppose part of the fun is having something to do for your ants everyday but in my situation one less thing to do the better.

Not a fan of the omni nest. Just too busy. There are much better options out there.
