Hi I was wondering if Vaseline would be a good barrier for myrmica rubra and other small species like tetramorium. Thx for the replies

No, it won't work, ants will run over it as if there wasn't any vaseline at all.

So what should I use instead

  • Talkum (also include in baby powder)
  • Liquid paraffin
  • Plant oil (but you'll have to apply it more often than liquid paraffin)
  • Fluon

Fluon would last the longest but it is more expensive and sometimes hard to apply.

plant oil like jojoba oil and grapeseed oil?

I've never tried these types, only olive oil, sunflower oil, canola oil.
