Found a few ants today I usually see while mowing out behind my storage building in the summer.  They were in some leaf litter piled up next to a small wooden retaining wall.  The boards have some channels and holes running through them so I I'm guessing Carpenter Ant.. Camponotus something....

Took some photos testing the Macro function on my Nikon Coolpix, but could not get as close-up as I wanted to.  Took a few more pics using the Macro function through a magnifying glass.  Used some photo-shop type software I have to crop them down and enlarge the photos.

This is my first attempt at posting pics....so if they are not there I did something wrong.  Maybe too big to upload directly to forum...

Location: Dallas Texas,  neighborhood, border closely by 5 Mile Creek.   

Date: 2-25-18

Temp: 62 degrees and clear...after 7 straight days of rain

Time: 2:00 PM  CST

Length: 10 mm

Color: Head is Dark Brown..if not Black. Thorax is Light Brown.  Gaster is Light Brown fading to Darker Brown near the tip.

Photos will not load.  They are .JPG files.  Error... you are not permitted to upload this kind of file.

Going to try and figure out the third party hosting option.  What is the most recommended one... read some bad reviews about photo bucket...

I would consider Camponotus festinatus, C. semitestaceus, C. vafer and perhaps even C. ocreatus or C. sansabeanus, depending on the darkness of the major's head.

Void here has really narrowed it down. Nah, gonna need to test those macro photo skills a little more so it can be narrowed down further.

After checking out photos and videos of the ones VoidElecent mentioned I think Camponotus semitestaceus  is what I have here.

Just drag the pics from your computer to the Imgur upload page - works for me everytime
