How many San Francisco Bay Area ant peeps do we have out there? What species do you guys have? How many queens do you have? Maybe we can put together a thread to record nuptial flight sightings.

Edit: I'm going to make a list for good anting spots. Anyone can leave suggestions and I'll put them on the list.

The Peninsula:
-San Bruno Mountain, Daly City
-Edgewood Park, Redwood City
-Huddart Park, Woodside

-Wunderlich Park, Woodside
-Jasper Ridge, Redwood City
-Purisima Trail, Woodside
-San Pedro Valley/Montara Mountain, Pacifica
-Tennessee Valley Trails, Mill Valley
-Mount Tamalpais, Mill Valley

East Bay:
-Black Diamond Mines, Mount Diablo
-Mount Diablo, Walnut Creek
-Sycamore Grove Park, Livermore

South Bay:
-Santa Teresa Park, San Jose
-Stevens Creek Park, Cupertino

I got P. Imparis, C. Modoc, Novomessor Cockerelli, and Formica cf. Moki. P. Imparis already flew, but I'll be sure to post when camponotus start flying.

Wow nice. Did you catch all those? I know that you bought C. modoc but idk about the others. I heard that Dorymyrmex insanus is flying this month.

I just saw two Prenolepis imparis males at my school today. I’m on the Peninsula. I honestly don’t know why they’re flying in 60 degree weather.

Dorymyrmex I think might have already flown in first week of February, but I'm sure they can fly again. Same with pogonomyrmex subdentatus I think, but I haven't seen any reports on the FB page.

I know a good place for Camponotus, Mt. Diablo. I'll let u guys know when I plan to beg my parents to take me there, since I know a guy that likes ants and lives near there.

Apparently, the place he goes to at the base of Diablo is good for Camponotus Vicinus, some unknown mytmentoma Camponotus, and Camponotus Quercicolas.

Oh nice. I think I might go there with my friends over spring break. Also I saw that on AntWeb there have been Myrmecocystus testaceous and mimicus found there.

I'm going probably next Friday to a place I know of in the evening to look for Camponotus. If vicinus flies near my house, I'll let everyone know.

I caught a Camponotus myrmentoma Queen this morning at around 10am at my school in San Mateo county. Sadly her gaster was crushed when I found her and she died when I got home.

Jealous. I know the queen I caught was either hyatti or clarithorax. I'll make an ID post.

Ya boy just caught a Dorymyrmex bicolor queen. Actually I’m not even in the Bay Area right now I’m in Manteca which is in central California but I heard they are flying at Mount Diablo.
