"Preserve" an entire ant colony

So, I recently had a medium formica colonies queen die. I thought it would be cool to preserve the entire formica colony? Has anyone ever done this? I want it for show purposes because I got this weird thing where I think dead bugs are cool. For right now I think I will put them in hand sanitizer or alcohol, then later on preserve the whole colony in resin. Make it showy.

That'd be kinda cool. I think resin would work if they were dried out all the way. There's a video of someone making the Jurassic Park cane with the mosquito in it. They used resin too.

Yeah, not sure why he used such dark resin?
The goal was to make a movie replica.
