Date: late June to early July
Habitat: open grassy neighborhood sidewalk
Length: 5mm
Color, hue, pattern and texture: black, with grainy texture (see pictures)
Distinguishing characteristics: too small to distinguish details
Distinguishing behavior:
Nest description: usually in the dirt next to objects like pipes, walls, rocks, etc. Commonly find them under bricks in a garden
Workers are much redder than they look in the picture
