Hello guys, I came across this little guy today. At first i thought a cool looking ant. Then the more I look at it, I think it might be something else. Ants? small grasshopper or baby praying mantis?

 

 

1. Location (on a map) of collection: O'neill Reg. Park Southern California 
2. Date of collection: 8/5/17
3. Habitat of collection: dry dead long grass, oak tree, dry dirt
4. Length (from head to gaster): 7-8mm
5. Color, hue, pattern and texture: Tan
6. Distinguishing characteristics: N/A
7. Distinguishing behavior: it move like an ants and it don't jump like a grasshopper 
8. Nest description: N/A

Will poke around a bit but I am pretty sure this is an ant mimicing nymph of some Coreidae species... Definitely a heteropteran of some kind with that proboscis you can see folded underneath it.

Edit: Actually just noticed those wing cases? Maybe this is an adult of some kind...still Heteroptera
