camponotus id request. april 30 2017

i have two species of camponotus here that i would like id'd i know they are both camponotus i found them after there flight as they were looking for a home in trees.

there is two, first one is red and black about 1 cm long.

second is all black and is about a cm in a half.

they were both found at the American river here in Sacramento or ("orangevale") close to "Mississippi bar"

found them wingless and climbing along trees and under bark looking for a home.

second edit: i found both of these ants crawling on oak trees searching for a home. i know they are both camponotus.

they arent modoc, they arent vicinus,

1. Camponotus hyatti or Camponotus yogi

2. Camponotus laevigatus or Camponotus quericola

the red and black ones arent discolor these have a small black band across there back

Neither one of those species occurs in California as far as I am aware.

Not really sure what the black one could be since it's in California, maybe Camponotus modoc. The red and black one is most likely Camponotus sayi but could also be Camponotus hyatti.
