Good morning all,

 

Caught this queen yesterday evening when I finally had some collection vials on me.. I was ill prepared yesterday as 2 queens and 1 male landed on me as I was out and about running errands. Anyways, here are the details that i know.

 

1.Collected in  White House, TN

2. 4/13/2017

3. Subdivision Sidewalk. Small subdivision in the country.

4. 10-11mm

5. black with gaster being yellow and black banded.

6. can't tell from pic how many petiole she has because her leg is in the way.

7. nothing odd

8. N/A

 

She dropped her wings over night. good sign :D

Huh! That's a fairly cool looking ant, and something brand new to me (though what isn't). Good deal with the wings. Knowing someone will ID it, good luck with her!

I agree with the rest, I think it's Camponotus subbarbatus. What a beautiful ant.
