Hi everyone, my family and I are at Indian Wells this weekend watching some tennis and we decided to make a pit stop off of Thousand Palms Rd to look around. I randomly decided to dig up a small mound and I unexpectedly found this queen. I thought it may be a v. Pergandi at first but it seemed a bit too small. I don't have a ruler w me but it seems to be around a cm long. I'll get a proper measurement when we get home.
Many thanks in advance!

If you've enjoyed using my expertise and identifications, please do not create undue ecological risk by releasing your ants. The environment which we keep our pet insects is alien and oftentimes unsanitary, so ensure that wild populations stay safe by giving your ants the best care you can manage for the rest of their lives, as we must do with any other pet.
Exotic ants are for those who think that vibrant diversity is something you need to pay money to see. It is illegal to transport live ants across state lines.

Probably just a smaller V. pergandei queen, like the others said. Didn't you catch some of those before?

I did Drew, but like I said she seemed a bit small so I thought maybe something else. Thanks for the ID everyone.
