I've found a few of these little guys running around the house. They seem to show up in the kitchen most of the time. I'm trying to identify them. They also tend to appear along with little black ants sometimes. This guy was about 8 mm or 5/16 of an inch long. The others I've found are in about the same size range.

We live near Jacksonville, Florida.

Thanks,

Jeff

Welcome to the forum Jeff. Your ant pictured above appears to be Camponotus floridanus.

This is somewhat off-topic, but I found this interesting website: http://waynesword.pa...u/AntGenera.htm. Has anyone ever come across it before?

Yes, James C. Trager posted it on another forum before. It's a pretty good site--lot's of information.

There is Ambylopone in California? And I didn't know about it?
