So last night I introduced the queen. I refrigerated her and the colony to about 55° with the hope that that might make them less aggressive. It didn't really work very well. Once I got her in with the workers, there was a huge panic and several of them attacked her. These workers are normally pretty skittish, so I started tapping on the tube and shaking it a little. This seemed to distract them and they let the queen go. I had to repeat that about two times and then finally I saw a worker perform trophallaxis with her and start doing that little antennae handshake. I was immensely relieved when I saw that. As of this morning, they all seem to be getting along.  :D

Thanks. This is technically my first colony and it sort of developed in reverse. These girls waited more than half a year for a queen, so I hope they do well.
