That is some sort of "valentine ant", Crematogaster sp.
Andrew could id down to species.

wow spot on. did a google search and came right up. They were eating a cicada molt when i found them. tried to put that one up but it was to large.

Yeah, right. Even the Myrmecologists have a hard time ID'ing Crematogaster to the species in places where they are very diverse.

Crematogasters are my favorite ant genus.
