Need help identifying this ant, I am not even too sure it is a queen however I believe it is. Appears to be 6mm in length. Was caught outside my apartment on the sidewalk, near grass and a large tree.

Deffinitely looks like it might be a queen. But I can't tell what species or genus. It is a little unfocused and it seems like yellow light is in the backround so I can't tell. Sorry! Hopefully someone is better then me can tell!

Looks like it may be a camponotus queen, but the fuzzy pictures make ID difficult. Others will be along shortly to help more but I am sure they will appreciate some more pics.

 

Just some advice, Imgur is a great pic share site, but when you want to post pics directly into a forum post, just copy and paste the BBcode for message boards and forums directly into the body of your post. If you view your picture in imgur, the link should be on the right side of it, and from there its just an easy copy and paste!

 

Oh, and welcome to the forum! :D

I don't think that is Camponotus because she seems on the small side... Better pics please👍🏼

Looks like Lasius claviger because of the red mandibles, thin abdomen and late timing.these are parasitic

If this is the case, and it is in fact parasitic, I'm assuming then that it won't lay its own eggs by itself without introduced workers?

So, this just happened after moving her into here. Moved her into the nesting area and sealed it off afterwards.

She is a social parasite who will need host workers and food.
