Hello fellow ant enthusiasts.

Just about finished with my first formicarium. Found this forum and decided to sign up. Hopefully I can be somewhat helpful somewhere.

Little background: I used to raise ants a lot as a child. However my methods were pretty primitive back then. I actually had no idea formiculture was an actual thing nowadays, with actual companies producing specialized ant keeping equipment. On a random whim recently I discovered this a few days ago and began the process of building my own formicarium.

So I haven't cared for ants in probably 20 years. So I will be here learning as much as I can from people with more experience with this. In terms of educational/career background, I am an entomologist that specializes in forensic entomology and integrated pest management. But entomology has always been a passion of mine so hopefully my non-formiculture entomology background may come in useful.

I will start a formicarium build/journal soon. Cheers and thanks for all the useful information and insight so far!
