I've heard that cockroaches are a really great food for ants, I was wondering is there anywhere in Canada to buy them?

I think Canada has some crazy laws about that so make sure you investigate that before getting them. Afaik its illegal to have dubia roaches up there.

It's illegal to ship any of the cool feeders, I remember someone on here specifically telling me that you need some crazy permits to ship/import them into Canada. Permits that you and I will probably never have

Yeah, some odd laws up here. If you look you can find some occasionally, particularly on reptile forums or on kijiji. Still illegal, unfortunately for us.

What would be the best way to catch a lot of wild roaches, I don't think I've ever seen one in the wild where I live.

What would be the best way to catch a lot of wild roaches, I don't think I've ever seen one in the wild where I live.
Only thing I could think of would be to go to some really shady places like Hotels that might have massive roach infestations.
But seriously, do you really want roaches? I mean if they escape they will breed in your house and you'll have to go to war against them. I'd say just breed mealworms and supplement them with other feeders.

I used to breed hissing roaches when they were still legal. I got rid of them all when I heard they became illegal. It's a shame though, as they were actually interesting to keep, and given the right conditions, they were far more active than I would have thought.

I've always thought it would be neat to breed local insects as feeders. I might try with woodlice sometime soon.
If you've enjoyed using my expertise and identifications, please do not create undue ecological risk by releasing your ants. The environment which we keep our pet insects is alien and oftentimes unsanitary, so ensure that wild populations stay safe by giving your ants the best care you can manage for the rest of their lives, as we must do with any other pet.
Exotic ants are for those who think that vibrant diversity is something you need to pay money to see. It is illegal to transport live ants across state lines.
