First timer.  Is this a queen?

Been considering getting into the hobby, and then all of the sudden I see this girl indoors just hanging out on the wall at work.

Discovered on May 27, in northern Illinois, in Cary, IL.

There was a MAJOR flight last night where I live in the North East of camponotus of several species (so so so so many, it was of nightmarish proportions).  Looks a lot like a camponotus pennsylvanicus which were the vast majority of what I saw last night.  However hard to tell from pics or no size info.

Definitely a Camponotus queen.

Yay!  I've been fretting over how I would find a queen and one almost literally falls into my lap.

I'm guessing pennsylvanicus too.  I can try to get better pictures.  As for size, i'm guessing she's around 7/8 inch maybe a little bigger.  The container she is in is almost an inch tall and she can pretty much touch the ceiling and floor at the same time.

I'm also guessing we had a flight last night as well, as the conditions were right.  We haven't had any rain for a while and two days ago had a massive rain storm.  Yesterday was really hot and humid, so they probably flew yesterday.

Just guessing though.

I recently saw that Camponotus PennsyIvanicus nests with lasius flavus and mymica rubra and they don't atack themselves, this is great.
