What are some common complaints about formicariums on the market? I'm curious :)

I can add:

humidity issues - with some species (particularly northern species) low humidity can lead to deformities of the pupae.

with pure acrylic nests there can be problems with formic acid in some species

With certain species, they tend to nest in the outworld if they don't like their nest.

Actually, I had deformities of the pupae when there is high humidity. So I have to move them to a bigger container.

What if the ant really like their nest but need expand? Well, they will settle in the outworld too, happens to mine.

That's one of the main reasons I mentioned ventilation. Too much humidity is probably what causes this most of the time.

Is there way to prevent the formic acid build up in full acrylic nests?

There is no evidence that the problem you describe actually exists (no one has actually measured these data to imply correlation).
