I'm confused, first you said this.

I can't believe all of that work with the gelatin formula was for nothing though (facepalm).

Then this?

I am not really sure what you mean drtmiller, I am just trying to create a solid food product that the ants can obtain moisture/nutrition from without drowning. This would be especially good for when I raise Monomorium emarginatum later this spring. Btw, the ants are obtaining liquid from the surface of the gelatin cube and now have the added option of carrying chunks back into the net for further working/consumption.

I thought it was unsuccessful?

I actually found a recipe here when I started ant keeping, and use it with a variety of species. I only remembered that I found it here just now.

A question that sometimes drives me hazy: am I or are the others crazy?

The original batch did attract the Tetramorium sp.E workers, but I wanted to stride to improve my formula in order to increase receptivity, but I ended up failing. I am sorry for the confusion and i am sorry if I wasted anyone's time.

I just wasn't quite understanding what you said, but I get it now. Is this what you're looking for though?

although this is a nice idea, i am focusing my efforts on designing a glucose based food source that won't expire over time (or if not, at least not quickly), for protein i will either use meal worms and other feeder insects as well as formula blue.
