I am a little confused about where I should be putting my protein foods. I have been putting my crickets and worms in the foraging area and the ants go crazy for them.  The question I have though is should I be putting them in the nest since the protein is for the queen and larvae?  Or do the workers bring bits of it into the nest when it looks like they are eating the live food?

The workers will feed the queen and brood in most every colony...and if they arent there is something wrong!

As far as I know everyone just feeds by dropping food in the outworld.

Food goes in the foraging area. Food placed in the nest may mold, or the ants may have difficulty removing it.

They call them foraging areas for a reason. ;)
