Greetings.

I am most fortunate in discovering this forum. Since registering, I have been busy reading the very informative posts and am awed by all the expertise that frequents this forum. Thank you for allowing me to join the fraternity.

Tom

Welcome!

All the ant keepers seem to be from  the west coast (usually California).    Good to see another Canadian here.  :D

I was wondering if anyone has had any luck in finding a Lasius niger queen for sale in BC?

Apart from hijacking this thread more or less, Lasius niger is not native to North America and occurs in isolated populations across the continent. I'm not aware of any populations around the Greater Vancouver area.

Well I apologize if I offended anyone, I was just looking to start a colony quickly, and I'm pretty sure that I've seen them around my area but I live in Castlegar, British Columbia

I think you might be referring to Lasius alienus, quite common around most of BC. If you are still not sure you're welcomed to start an ID thread in the ID requests subforum.
