Long shot here, but I'm looking to buy Cyphomyrmex wheeleri -- I'm in the Bay Area, California
This is not a commonly kept species so I don't expect quick responses to this (although that would be great). If you are reading this, I am looking!

I might make an effort to catch them this year since they're here in the Bay, but I won't have high hopes either haha. Tracking their flights is a bit of a pain.

I am trying for the same! Let me know if you end up nabbing some queens. Do they fly after big rains? Or what is their general mating flight strategy?
I actually went out to the Fremont hills today to try and find a colony that was recorded on iNaturalist -- no luck unfortunately, far too cryptic of a species I think

I checked the weather for the flight recorded on iNaturalist and it suggested that they fly on excessively hot days in late summer, probably around high 80s to 90s. Flights take place either sometime at night or in the early morning from what I've seen. You probably won't find them on any random day except for maybe a foraging worker.
