Title:ant found in northern Iran – ~5-6 mm – July 2025

Location of collection: Northern Iran, found near a window inside an apartment.
Date of collection: July 8, 2025
Habitat: Urban residential area; inside an apartment near a garden and green space.
Length: Approximately 5 to 6 mm.
Coloration: Light brown body with slightly darker gaster; shiny exoskeleton; translucent wings present.
Distinguishing characteristics: Slender body, long wings relative to size, bent antennae.
Behavior: Calm but cautious; moves quickly and explores surroundings carefully.
Nest description: Not found.
Nuptial flight time and date: Possibly flew recently or preparing to fly; previous night was rainy and today is partially sunny.
Observation note: This is the first year this species has been observed in this region. The specimen has a slightly larger body compared to males. However, I suspect it might be a large male.

Would you be able to get a photo of the wings? The venation of the forewing is useful for ID. This is a male of some myrmicine, I would say probably Pheidole.
