Hey guys! I just got back into ant keeping! I’ve been reading a lot but haven’t found anything in particular in my situation so! I have a colony of Pogonomyrmex Californicus bicolor desert variety. The colony has about 40 workers I got them about two weeks ago. They are currently in a fallen fortress.

A little back story on them they are a year old colony which was given back to the original collector of the queen due to personal reasons. From what I was told They’ve been in a test tube set up since founding stages.

Now when I got them they had little brood I would say like 1 pupa 2 larva and a small clutch of eggs and 40 workers 2 newly enclosed worker which died I'm guessing due to no heat during transport I was waiting for the fallen fortress to come in which took forever I would say like a 1 week and a half during that time. I had them on a heat Mat in an arthropod tank. I fed them fruit flies and gave them poppy seeds. I notice the queen started to lay eggs which was a good sign. But I noticed maybe 2-3 workers dying almost every 4 days? Perhaps. As I got them into the fallen fortress and settle I notice the eggs hatch and broods starting to develop as I got them properly set up. I would say I got a clutch of larva 7-10 right now as they just started hatching and are in different stages. Queen still laying eggs but my only issue is right now the workers are still slowly dying 2-3 had died since.

Set up:
Fallen fortress from THA
Temp ranges about 85-90
They have a water tower
Fruit flies / mealworms
Poppy seeds/ dandelions seeds

I have about 30 workers yes I counted 😂 I’m afraid the workers will perish before the brood becomes workers. Is there anything I can do? What’s your guys thoughts on this ? Should I be worried?

It would also be an awesome story to see if I can get this colony to recover and thrive! As I feel like they’ve held up pretty good considering they are a year old and this colony seems promising
