Using Red Iron Oxide in formicarium

Has anyone here used red iron oxide for natural coloring in their formicariums? I can't find any record of people using it, but based off what I know I wouldn't imagine it would be harmful in any way to ants?

Great, now I can put all of the rusty metal I have to use (joke).

Ants are small creatures... but together... they can rule the world.
