1. Location of collection: Katy, Texas (Near Houston)
2. Date of collection: 8/23/15
3. Habitat of collection: In my garage near the light source
4. Length (from head to gaster): 6 mm
5. Color, hue, pattern and texture: Red
6. Distinguishing characteristics: -
7. Anything else distinctive: -
8. Nest description: -

 

Is this Solenopsis invicta alate? Thank you.

 

 

(Note: Eggs belong to another species)

Ant Queens found:

 

Solenopsis Invicta,  Solenopsis xyloni,  Brachymyrmex depilis/Sp,  Myrmecocystus Mimicus,  Pogonomyrmex barbatus,

Forelius pruinosus,  Camponotus sayi, Dorymyrmex insanus, crematogaster ashmeadi,

Ant Queens i have going right now:

 

camponotus sayi, solenopsis invicta, Myrmecocystus Mimicus, Forelius pruinosus

Pogonomyrmex barbatus, and some others (no i.d.)

Are you keeping that queen in that container?

 

Looks like that queen is in the Tepicana group.


Species I keep:

 

1 Lasius cf. Neoniger 30 workers

1 Camponotus sp. 15 workers

20 Tetramorium SpE 30 workers

1 T. Sessile 200 workers

Looks like that queen is in the Tepicana group.

 

What is that? I've never heard of the tepicana-group.

It was on the container for its photo session only :) back to the test tube afterwards.

Not her eggs :( ... it was from another harvester ant (Pogonomyrmex barbatus) left inside the container earlier.
