Manitobant’s ravenous formica ravida

This queen was caught by a friend in Eastern Manitoba and sold to me as “F. fossaceps”. As soon as I received her i knew that couldn’t be right, as i have caught formica fossaceps before and they look quite different. after doing some digging I have come to the conclusion that this is likely F. ravida, which while unrecorded in MB actually has some specimens from here in my entomology department’s insect collection. Hopefully she will succeed in getting some biological workers after hibernation!
