I found this queen floating in some water and fished her out, unfortunately her wings were a bit messed up but she'll probably remove them later. At first I thought it was Tetramorium immigrans but she seemed a bit small and also I don't think Tetramorium are having many nuptial flights anymore. My guess is that it is Solenopsis molesta but I'd appreciate anyone's input. Thanks.

 

1. Location (on a map) of collection:  NY
2. Date of collection: 8/10/23
3. Habitat of collection: Near wetlands, found floating in some water
4. Length (from head to gaster): 6mm
5. Color, hue, pattern and texture: red thorax and rusty head + gaster
6. Distinguishing characteristics: very long abdomen

I just caught a molesta yesterday. Only mine was 4mm exactly. Gaster wasn't as big. Nice find.
