Hello,

I am looking to see if what species of ant these two ants are. I believe they are camponotus genus and queen ants.

Ant 1 was collected from an old stump, in an area that is dry but starting to break apart in a sunny area of the lawn. It was collected in Mendon MA on June 16th 2023. I did not see any other ants in the stump. The ant is about 12mm to 14mm with a black head, thorax, and stripped black gaster See images attached.

Ant 2 was collected from under the bark on a log at the top.of a pile next to a tree line. The bark was dry and was starting to separate. It was collected in Mendon MA on June 16th 2023. The second ant is about 12mm to 14mm with a reddish black head, yellow legs, black thorax, and dark red stripped gaster. Also it seems as though the front left leg was damaged when I removed the bark. Will this affect the queen if I am trying to raise both? See images attached

Maybe pennsy for the first Chroma for second

The first one might actually be Modoc or Pennsylvaniacus

Pennsylvaniacus makes sense for the first one, I caught one earlier this year and see that species mostly around.

I wasn't sure with the second ant, with the reddish body with yellow legs. Thank you for the help

First one is pennsylvanicus second is chromaiodes.
