Wasn't able to get a queen this year, looking to buy a queen for a reasonable price. Species doesn't matter, though an ID would be appreciated.

unfortunately, i know of no active ant sellers in north dakota(hopefully they will prove me wrong!). I am probably one of the closest, located in south dakota, but i do not have permits yet. your best bet is to look at stateside ants or buckeye myrmecology, although, as you mentioned, you will have to pay the premium.

Go to the ant, you sluggard; consider its ways and be wise! It has no commander, no overseer or ruler, yet it stores its provisions in summer and gathers its food at harvest. -Proverbs 6: 6-8
