I keep: Brachymyrmex patagonicus, Camponotus sansabeanus, Crematogaster sp., Formica argentea, Myrmecocystus mexicanus, 2x Pogonomyrmex californicus, Pogonomyrmex rugosus, Solenopsis molesta
There doesn't seem to be any good reliable identifications or even any identification attempts of the larger concolorous black Crematogaster gynes from California. I collected one this year to raise a colony and get an identification.
I looked on antwiki’s western crematagaster species but because there aren’t many pictures of the queens I can’t decide upon the species until she gets workers.

It’s odd how big she is since most crematagaster queens are only 8mm and the largest species in the western US that has been recorded on antwiki is 10mm

This species has been collected fairly often in the hobby I think, to my knowledge it is an undescribed species.
Hi there! I went on a 6 month or so hiatus, in part due, and in part cause of the death of my colonies.
However, I went back to the Sierras, and restarted my collection, which is now as follows:
Aphaenogaster uinta, Camponotus vicinus, Camponotus modoc, Formica cf. aserva, Formica cf. micropthalma, Formica cf. manni, Formica subpolita, Formica cf. subaenescens, Lasius americanus, Manica invidia, Pogonomyrmex salinus, Pogonomyrmex sp. 1, Solenopsis validiuscula, & Solenopsis sp. 3 (new Sierra variant).

I have a dead alate with wings if you would like her.
What about once the queen gets workers?

More than so cal in a garage would be helpful in finding an Id.

Even then though I doubt people would be able to narrow it down to species gcsnelling. We could possibly narrow it down to a few species but with how similar a lot of the concolorous Crematogaster in California are I really don't think there's much hope in narrowing it down. But I could be wrong. I'm still learning about identifying ant.
