Definitely go to antopiausa.com they actually have P. rugosus queens for sale right now and they have permits to ship to California. I got my P. rugosus colony from them and it’s thriving to the point that I decided to keep a journal on it (below).

I keep: C. modoc, C. sansabeanus  :D, C. maritimus, Formica argentea, M. mexicanus  :D, Odontomachus brunneus :D, Pogonomyrmex californicus, Pogonomyrmex rugosus,

Now that they’ve started to produce more workers I noticed that the workers that have hatched while I’ had them are more red in color then the worker that originally came with the queen.
