Collected from a colony dug in between some brick edging.
Charlotte, N.C.
10:00 hrs
6-8mm long
Reddish brown and dark brown
There were several winged ants.
I'm guessing these are new queens who have not yet flown/mated?

Solenopsis invicta queen. Since she is winged and collected from a colony, she is very likely infertile and not yet mated.

I am pretty sure when invicta queens have wings it is usually not the full 4.(I have found one with the full 4, but I thinks it’s wings were beginning to rot off)

my point about her being infertile still stands, as the nest had multiple winged alates in it.
