It definitely looks like a myrmica species of some kind. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable on european myrmica can chime in.

Right on. Most people that know what they're talking about usually won't respond to a ID request like this. Including myself. Except I'm not going to try to identify any species outside of the U.S. as far as ants go.

Right on. Most people that know what they're talking about usually won't respond to a ID request like this. Including myself. Except I'm not going to try to identify any species outside of the U.S. as far as ants go.
Fair enough but what is missing? The post about the ID format says optional and I thought I covered everything. I also know the only way to tell difference between Rubra and Rugonodis is looking at the scape, petiole.and the propodeum spine. I was hoping there were enough data points in the picture to determine this. If not I was hoping to understand what potential angles etc would help best. I don't have the greatest eye sight so I get the kids to help me even when I blow up the pics on a big monitor!
