So, um, I tried to refill the water tower of my formicarium in which my colony of Formica rufibarbis are housed which have a hefty amount of brood after winter, and um, it kind of flooded:

Did I accidentally kill the brood? What can I do?

Um, uh, Ants!

I’ve accidentally flooded mini hearths before, and usually the brood is fine. What i do when this happens is stick a syringe into the water tower filling port and suck out some of the extra water.

Ok, thanks, I'll do that.

I wouldn't be too concerned, I second the sucking extra water out with a syringe if you can get to it.

Other than that, in my experience formica can be incredibly finicky, so if anything, they might eat the brood if they get stressed out.  I would try and bother them the least you can, they should be fine.  Good luck.

They should be fine. This must happen to soil nesting ants every time it rains heavily.
