Kitchen, Suburb, Grassy/Meadow
It rained for three days straight, ending the night before collection
4. Length (from head to gaster):
5mm/.5cm
5. Color, hue, pattern and texture:
To the naked eye she appears fully black. Zoomed in she is dark brown-black on the abdomen with yellowish legs. Shiney, no apparent hairs. Slight banding - that might mean she's bred?
6. Distinguishing characteristics:
Yellowish legs
7. Distinguishing behavior:
I am sorry I am new to ants and this is the first queen I've seen. When I first caught her she appeared to try and spray me with acid. Since then she has been very friendly.
8. Nest description:
I have no idea where she came from. I found her on my kitchen table. It snowed here yesterday and I haven't seen any other ants out and about.
9. Nuptial flight time and date:
I didn't see any other ants except her.

They told me she is a Lasius, but I have struggled to narrow it down further.
Any help or advice is greatly appreciated!
