Waddup y’all. My C. novaeboracensis colony is now at 30 workers and I wanna set them up in a tube and tub. I tried using the old “baby powder mixed with rubbing alcohol” but they easily climbed up the barrier when I tested it. I feel like it’s because they’re a larger species.
Can anyone recommend a good barrier for this species?

Keep ordinary ants in extraordinary ways.

Fluon works great with my C. novaeboracensis colony.

I’ll order a wee bottle and report back with the results. Thanks friends!

Just make sure your barrier is wider than they can reach, you'll be set.

Did you use talcum based baby powder?

I wouldn’t use olive oil, as it usually kills many ants that try walking through it. Baby powder-rubbing alcohol is fine and works great, but fluon is generally the best choice.
