Wow sorry for the late update again, I have decided to move updates to Fridays as I am much too busy on Thursdays to keep updating on my Ants.

Liometopum colony three: They have lots of pupae but I believe that I am going to put this colony into hibernation after these pupae hatch as this colony has not done that well this year.

IMG_9380.jpg

Liometopum colony four: They are doing great and should be getting a nest upgrade as soon as I finish a new nest prototype (if interested I will be selling nests this next year so be sure to pick some up  :)). Hopefully they eventually get to alates as that is my hope.

Manica Queen: Her larvae have slowed their growth and are looking like they may need hibernation as well. I still plan on keeping her out but if she just acts like she seriously need it I will put her in hibernation.

Thanks for reading my journal! God bless.  :)

I start this update with some sad news. After a year and a half Queen Sierra has died. I have no idea why I just found her mangled body on the hydration mesh. I am saddened by this but such things happen.

Here is a photo of Queen Sierra:

Liometopum colony four: This colony has passed the one hundred worker mark with no sign of stopping. They are extremely active and attack any food I give them in swarms of thirty to forty workers. I tried to capture this but I was not fast enough as they had already dragged their prey into a hiding spot. They have a pile of a few hundred eggs and have a massive brood pile as you can see.

IMG_9435.jpg

Manica Queen: I moved her into a tubs and tubes setup to make it easier to feed her. She still has four larvae that are not growing but hopefully they will.

Thanks for reading my journal! God bless.  :)

Wow something big happened today in my ant world. The Lios got a new setup!

Liometopum colony four: This colony has reached the point where I decided it was time to give them a new setup. They are around one hundred and fifty workers strong with no signs of stopping.

Here is a photo of before the move:

And a few of after:

Manica Queen: She is slowing down and I think I might just put her in hibernation.

Thanks for reading my journal and following the stories of my colonies! God bless.  :)

Update!

Liometopum colony four: Unfortunately my ants escaped the earlier setup so I had to change it up. While changing setups the acrylic sheet fell off the earlier nest and cracked so I just decided to use my Esthetic Ants nest as it would. They have loved and are doing great with a humongous brood pile.

Manica Queen: I decided to put this Queen in hibernation.

Unfortunately the colony I kept in a normal setup died. The other most likely did the same as they do not eat and have disappeared.

Finally! It is update time! I also got a new camera with a macro lens so hopefully the quality has improved.

Liometopum luctuosum colony: They have a massive brood pile but for some reason ( probably because it is way more dry) they keep half of it in the tubing.

Glad to see you've kept up your journal! Also that Liometopum colony makes me jealous.

Update!

Liometopum colony: They have been slowing down as I had a lack of feeders but I fortunately I was able to pick up some new ones. Hopefully they will start booming in numbers again soon. They still have plenty of small larvae and I hope I can get this colony to alates.
